Rona is an experienced clinical social worker licensed in New York State. She has provided counseling to adults and adolescents for over 30 years in clinic, school and private settings.
Rona believes that any meaningful therapy should help you understand yourself more fully and help you make the changes you wish to make in your life. If you choose to work with Rona, you will find her to be non-judgmental, empathic, authentic and direct.
Rona’s therapeutic style is interactive and eclectic drawing from psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches. She focuses on the here-and-now but also takes into account earlier experiences, understanding that these experiences have an impact on thinking and behavior.
Her areas of focus include but are not limited to the management of anxiety and depressive symptoms, relationship issues, grief/loss, stress management, addiction/recovery/ACOA issues, work and career concerns, and life transitions.
Early in her career, Rona provided substance abuse treatment in an outpatient clinic through individual, group and family modalities. After nearly a decade at the clinic, she joined the staff at a Psychological Counseling Center at a local community college conducting psychotherapy and crisis intervention. Rona’s career has also involved creating and presenting mental health and substance abuse workshops to students, faculty and community groups across Long Island.
Rona received her Master’s Degree in Social Work and her Post Master’s Certificate in Advanced Clinical Practice from New York University.
